The warbands met again in battle, vying for dominance over each other.

Pairings were generated at random and this is how they came out:

Chris vs. Brian
Battlefield: Agimore's Sweep
Time of Day: Dusk
Weather: Nice
Scenario: Breakthrough
Alezza's Horde of Horrible sets up a wide defense against The River Runners!

The River Runners Waltz right past Alezza's warband as they stumble to stay organized!

Mike vs. Brandon
Battlefield: Big Monster Hill (Brandon's territory)
Time of Day: Dawn
Weather: Pleasant
Scenario: Loot and Pillage (Mike attacking)

Brandon's dwarves relax with their treasure while Mike's evil dwarves sneak in for a 5 finger discount!

Mike took a bunch of pictures of this battle, and is planning a battle report.  I hope to post that here when he's finished!

Jake vs. Todd
Battlefield: Hemore's Plateau
Time of Day: Day
Weather: Warm and Sunny
Scenario: Place of Power

Both Todd's Orcs and Jake's Humans run a tight formation, planning for a bloody clash!

Both warbands carefully maneuver around the treacherous frozen lake!

"Hey, there's some guys that look like they want to fight!  LET'S GET 'EM!!"

"May I have your attention please, gentleman.  It appears there is a band of ruffians who wish to engage us in combat.  Please prepare your weapons for battle!"

The River Runners moseyed on past the defenders and scored a clear victory!

Mike scored an amazing victory against a superior foe and made off with 120 of his hard earned gold coins!

Jake crushed his opponent and rode away victorious!

Week 3- Game 1

And another day of gaming commences!  We got a bit of a late start, so we didn't get in as many games as last session, but it was still brutal.

Pairings were again random and looked like this:

Jeff vs. Todd
Battlefield: Dread Mire
Time of Day: Day
Weather: Beautiful
Scenario: Seize the High Ground

Todd's Orcs are quick, but Jeff's rangers are quicker!  Orcs desperately try to dislodge the rangers from the hill!

Faramir bravely leading from the rear as orcs pour over his men! :)

Mike vs. Brian
Battlefield: Agimore's Sweep
Time of Day: Day
Weather: Not Too Bad
Scenario: Seize the High Ground

The River Runners effortlessly cover the objective while Mike's dwarves slowly advance.

The River Runners brace for impact!

Jake vs. Chris
Battlefield: The Green Vale
Time of Day: Night
Weather: Peaceful
Scenario: On Difficult Ground

Jake's humans patiently wait with bows ready while Alezza's Horde of Horrible slogs through the swamp!

After the dust settled the results were as so:

Jeff siezed the high ground and victory!
Brian siezed the high ground and victory!
Jake easily overpowered his opponent for victory!

I didn't get many shots of these games, I was too busy trying to figure out how to not let the terrain swallow up my warband while at the same time not allowing my opponent to stomp my guts out.  And after everything was said and done 3 skeletons were removed from my warband, so I'd say I did a poor job of it!

Battlefield Profile- Agimore's Sweep

The first battlefield we will take a look at is Agimore's Sweep.

6 Agimore's Sweep (Hill Land)
Min number of terrain pieces: 5
Mandatory: 3 Hill
Normal: Hills, Ruins, Broken Rocks
Fantastic: Bladegrass

The western barbarians lead by the Warlord Agimore rampaged through kingdom after kingdom before being stopped on the open plains  that now bear their warlord’s name.

This terrain piece was selected by Mike.  I believe Mike has two sets of terrain he has been using for this piece.  One batch contains items he made himself.

In these pictures we have a variety of terrain from War Torn Worlds.  The most interesting thing about their pieces is that they are made from recycled rubber tires, putting our waste to some good use!

Included in this collection are the following pieces:

8" Finished 15mm Grassy Hill SKU 07004  MSRP $9.00
Classical Ruined Corner WTW-06500 MSPR $22.00
Classical Shrine WTW-06501 MSPR $22.00
Ruined Tower WTW-06700 MSPR $15.00
Round Rock Outcropping WTW-06052-06054 MSRP $9.00
Rugged Hill A Granite Summer WTW- 06200 MSRP $16.00
Rugged Hill B Granite Summer WTW- 06201 MSRP $26.00

All prices are in U.S. Dollars.

These items are available from your local game store, or through War torn Worlds' Ebay Store.

Mike has also added more detail to these pieces by adding additional ground cover, as well as creeping vines, flowers and other details using products from Woodland Scenics.

I would also like to note at all the mats were have played on starting week 2, and through the end of the campign, were make by Mike.  They are based on felt, and are easily rolled to store, but stay flexible and suffer from minimal shedding.  I would like to make one myself some day, and do a step by step tutorial.  These mats are so slick, every should own one.

Jake41005
Brian32005
Chris23005
Jeff23005
Mike03025

Please note that those that are tied are listed alphabetically.

This week yielded some crazy events.

At the end of game 3 my warband, Alezza's Horde of Horrible, had only 15 gold and was beaten and battered.  Just for fun I chanced the Gambling Den, figuring it was no big loss to be banned.  Fortunately I threw a "6", then a "3."  That extra 90 gold really helped boost my warband!

Brandon saw what luck I had and thought he would try his luck as well.  He rolled up his die and threw a "6" as well!  And just to one- up me, he threw another "6", banking himself and extra 180 gold!!

Jeff And Jake's Treasure Hunt for round 3 was one of the shortest games in history.  I believe Jake was able to end it on turn 2 because of the placement of the hidden treasure tokens.  It took longer to set up than it did to play!

So far the campaign has been an absolute blast.  It looks as if most people had a pretty rocky start, but as the warbands begin to develope they are becoming significantly more powerful and viable.

Next Tuesday is a bye week.

I will be profiling some of the battlefields and warbands in the coming weeks, so everyone can get to know the people and places!

Week 2- Game 3

The crew was pumped up and the night was still young, so we squeezed another match in!

The last round was fast and frantic, and I didn't get very good pictures.

Pairings and battlefieds were again generated randomly and this is how they came out:

Jeff vs. Jake
Battlefield: Tremor's Pass
Time of Day: Dawn
Weather: Overcast
Scenario: Treasure Hunt

Jeff's Rangers and Jakes's Humans search for treasure!

Mike vs. Brian
Battlefield: Agimore's Sweep
Time of Day: Night
Weather: Heavy Rain
Scenario: Ambush

Mike's evil dwarves begin their advance into the the clever trap set up by Brian's elves.

Chris vs. Brandon
Battlefield: The Barrens
Time of Day: Dust
Weather: Perfect
Scenario: Accidental Meeting
Alezza's Horde of Horrible is surrounded by Brian's dwarves.

A skeleton is run down by gigantic bears.  Goodbye, skeleton #4!

This quick round ended like so:

Jake's humans quickly snatched the treasure and retreated to safety and to victory!

Brian's elves laid a successful trap and won the day!

Brandon's dwarves encircled their foe and gave them a sound defeat!

Week 2- Game 2

Round 2... FIGHT!

Lots of elixers were consumed, and more than a fair share of band aids were applied, and these warbands are ready for more!

Pairings and battlefieds were again generated randomly and this is how they came out:

Jake vs. Brian
Battlefield: Hemore's Plateau
Time of Day: Day
Weather: A Fine Day
Scenario: Assassination
Jake's humans valiantly protect their leader from Brian's Elves

Crafty Elves attempt a flanking maneuver.

Mike vs. Brandon
Battlefield: Agimore's Sweep
Time of Day: Night
Weather: Thunderstorm
Scenario: Place of Power

Brandon and Mike in some hot dwarf on dwarf action!

Brandon's dwarves easily outnumber and overwhelm Mike's dwarves.

Chris vs. Jeff
Battlefield: The Barrens
Time of Day: Day
Weather: Cool and Sunny
Scenario: On Difficult Ground
Pinned!  Alezza's Horde of Horrible takes archer fire from the front and a lighting fast flank attack.

Rangers rush in to save their fallen comrade from a fate worse than death!

When the dust finally settled the standings were:

Jake's warband held back the assault and was victorious!

Brandon smashed through his opponents lines and claimed victory for his own!

Jeff easily smited his foe and won the day!

Week 2- Game 1

Another week of adventure begins, with all warbands geared up and ready to engage each other in combat.

Each pair of gaming weeks are played in a different season of the year.  The first two weeks are in spring.  Weeks 3 and 4 will be summer, and Weeks 5 and 6 will be the fall.

Pairings and battlefieds were again generated randomly and this is how they came out:

Jeff vs. Brian
Battlefield: Whispering Woods
Time of Day: Dawn
Weather: Beautiful
Scenario: On Difficult Ground

Jeff's Humans and Brian's Elves clash in the Whispering Woods

Archers trade volleys while a violent melee ensues between Jeff's Humans and Brian's Elves.

A lone ranger fights valiantly despite the impossible odds.

Elves and Humans square off for one final clash!

Mike vs. Chris
Battlefield: Shores of Esil's Ocean
Time of Day: Day
Weather: Heavy Rain
Scenario: Accidental Meeting

Alezza's Horde of Horrible and Mike's Dwarfs will settle once and for all who rules the beach!

Alezza the evil Necromancer and Mike's equally evil Dwarf leader spot each other.

Another victim joins the ranks of the undead thanks to Alezza's twisted magic!

Jake vs. Brandon
Battlefield: The Green Vale
Time of Day: Dusk
Weather: Cool and Overcast
Scenario: Breakthrough

Jake's humans crest the hill to watch the movements of Brandon's dwarves.

The dwarves spot an opening and begin their advance under a rain of arrows.

Massive bears lead the way!

Brandon's dwarves make their final push.  Nearly surrounded, and their goal within their grasp!  Can they do it?!?

This was an exciting round !  The games were close and fun was had by all.  The round winners were:

Though both warbands were at home in the woods Brian was able to claim victory!

Not surfers, nor dwarves would have this day!  The beach belongs to Chris' warband Alezza's Horde of Horrible!

Brandon's dwarves were able to fight their way through the gauntlet and on to victory!

Week 1 Results

Standings after week 1:

Player     Wins     Losses     Byes
Jake           2             0             0
Brandon     1             1             0
Brian          1             1             0
Chris          1             1             0
Jeff             1             1             0
Todd          0             2             0
Mike          0             0             2

Our fearless leader, Mike Z, was called away on business on the first day.

I personally would've skipped work.  The campaign is only 6 sessions.  Work is hundreds of sessions a year.

Week 1- Game 2

After the warbands patched their wounded and buried their dead the second games of the night were underway.

Pairings were again generated at random. Each player rolled a D6, and the two highest rolling players played each other, then the two middle- rolling players and finally the lowest rolling pair playing each other.

In the second batch of games the conditions for battle were a bit more friendly, but the scenarios were much more challenging.

Pairings were as follows:

Chris and Jake
Battleground: Hemore's Plateau; Time of Day: Day; Weather: Cool and slightly overcast; Scenario: Assassination

Brian and Todd
Battleground: Tashia's Crossing; Time of Day: Day; Weather: Nice day for a stroll; Scenario: Ambush

Jeff and Brandon
Battleground: Tremors Pass; Time of Day: Day Weather: Thunderstorm; Scenario: Assassination
The second set of games was fast and furious, and I was only able to snap a quick picture of each table before they were over.

Tashia's Crossing, before Todd's Orcs and Brian's Elves engage in batle.

Chris' undead use what little cover they can find to advance against the ranged attacks of Jake's humans.

Jeff's humans valiantly assault Brandon's entrenched dwarves in The Green Vale.

Winners for this round were:
Brandon
Brian
Jake

Week 1- Game 1

At about 18:00, CST, on January 5th, 2010 the battles commenced.  Six players had arrived to test their warbands against each other.  It would prove to be brutal, pushing all warbands to their limit.

Pairings were generated randomly.  Each player rolled a D6, and the two highest rolling players played each other, then the two middle- rolling players and finally the lowest rolling pair playing each other.

Initiatives were rolled, battlegrounds chosen, weather and lighting determined, scenario decided upon, and the battles commenced!

Pairings were as follows:

Chris and Brandon
Battleground: The Whispering Woods; Time of Day: Night; Weather: Heavy Rain; Scenario: On Difficult Ground.

Jake and Brian
Battleground: Tashias Crossing; Time of Day: Night; Weather: A Pleasant Day; Scenario: Ambush

Todd and Jeff
Battleground: Tremors Pass; Time of Day: Night; Weather: Perfect SBH Weather; Scenario: ?????

Here are the few pictures I was able to shoot during the games:

Brandon's dwarves slog through the soggy grass, trying to pick out the shapes of Chris' undead through the darkness and rain.

Chris' Undead pick their way through a treacherous wood, slowly closing the gap between themselves and Brandon's Dwarves.

Brian's elves stumble into an ambush set by Jake's humans!

A close of of the skirmish between Jake's humans and Brian's elves.

Todd's Orcs clash with Jeff's humans in the border town of Tremors Pass.

Todd's Orcs and Jeff's Humans squaring off!

The fighting was viscious and most players took heavy losses.  Todd and Brian took so many losses in fact that they had to restart their warbands just to stay competitive!  I don't think anyone walked away without at least one dead unit in their warband.

Winners of this round were:

Chris
Jake
Jeff

The Campaign Begins!

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010, was the first day of play for the campaign.  A total of 7 people signed up to play, only one less than expected.  We are very happy with the turnout!

I'm waiting for some information to be turned in to me, but here's a short rundown of what we had, in no particular order:

Player          Warband
Brandon        Dwarves
Brian             Elves
Chris             Undead
Jake              Humans
Jeff                Humans
Mike             Dwarves
Todd            Orcs and Goblins

Our fearless leader, Mike Z, was out of town for work and was unable to attend opening day.  We've yet to see what fury he will unleash upon us!

Each player's warband will be profiled individually in the upcoming weeks, so stay tuned!
